Main Street Lights: Community Christmas Tree Lighting

Community Hall & Downtown Newberry

The official tree lighting event is one you don't want to miss! Experience caroling at the tree between 5 pm and 6 pm from the Southern Victorian Society, dressed in full replica Victorian era Holiday attire. The official Lighting Ceremony begins at 6:15 pm and features local school choirs, ending with a countdown to light the town at 6:30 pm! Experience the Joy of the start to the holiday season with us. After the ceremony peruse downtown to view the decor, listen to wandering carolers and consider stopping by the Ritz Theater at 7:30 pm for a FREE showing of a holiday movie! North Pole Nights

Community Hall & Memorial Park

The Wonders of the North Pole are coming to Newberry! Come downtown on Fridays in December for faux snow and pictures with Santa in Memorial Park and Story Time with Mrs. Claus at the Newberry County Chamber of Commerce office in Community Hall. Events are free, however photos with Santa do require a small fee.

Santa's Tour of Newberry

Save the Date for Santa's Tour of Newberry!

On select Fridays in December Santa will tour Newberry's neighborhoods via Fire Truck before arriving in Downtown Newberry for North Pole Nights!

Week 1- from 5pm-6pm: Grant Homes, Palmetto Pointe Dr., Nance Forest, Oakland Community, Newberry College Area, & Harrington St. neighborhoods. 
Week 2- from 5pm-6pm: Forest Ridge, Loblolly, Newberry Arms, Pebblebrook, Wise Street, Mollohon area, and Caldwell St. to Downtown neighborhoods. 
Week 3- from 5pm-6pm: West End neighborhood through Drayton Street, Main Street, Crosson, and Suber Dr.

A Very Berry Christmas: Official Gingerbread Competition

Competition entries can be seen on display in the Newberry Arts Center (1200 Main Street) the first weekend of December through Christmas.

Downtown Newberry

The Newberry Downtown Development Association invites you to attend their Holiday Open House! Downtown shops and stores will be rolling out the welcome mat for you. Explore what downtown has to offer during this weekend of festivity. Tuba Christmas


Newberry Opera House
All are invited to attend Newberry's Tuba Christmas. This free and open to the public event features tuba and euphonium/baritone horn players performing Christmas carols that have been specifically arranged for these low bass instruments, creating a sound that has been described to be like "that of a male vocal choir." There will also be an opportunity for community singing during the event. Tuba Christmas is an international event that takes place in most major cities around the United States. In South Carolina, there are at least 5 known Tuba Christmas events with Newberry's commonly being the largest. The Newberry Tuba Christmas typically brings in 50 performers, offering their audience a full and rich sound. Call 803-276-6264 for details.

Newberry County Chamber of Commerce: Christmas Tour of Homes

Across Newberry

The Newberry County Chamber of Commerce hosts this annual event on the 2nd Saturday of December. Tour beautiful private homes of Newberry, fully decorated for the holidays as well as a local business and church. Contact the chamber for tickets at 803-276-4274.

Annual Bike Toy Run
