COVID POLICY

The City of Newberry continues to monitor COVID-19 and is planning to host the 2021 event with modifications to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. Best practices and guidelines are continuing to evolve; therefore, policies and procedures listed below are subject to change.

COVID-19 Attendee Policy

·         If you are exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms or feel unwell, if you or a household member has been exposed to COVID-19 at any time within 14 days before the festival, or if you or a household member has tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of the festival, please do not attend.

·         Although not required, all attendees at the event are asked to wear a face-covering when appropriate,     such as in indoor areas, or areas with condensed pedestrian traffic, pursuant to recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control.

·         All attendees acknowledge that exposure to COVID-19 is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present; City of Newberry PRT cannot guarantee you will not be exposed during your visit. The CDC advises that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions may be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Vendors and attendees should evaluate their own risk in determining whether to attend. People who show no symptoms can still spread COVID-19 if they are infected; any interaction with the public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19. By attending the City of Newberry tree lighting, you acknowledge and agree that you assume these inherent risks associated with attendance, and agree to hold Christmas in Newberry, City of Newberry, and its sponsors, agents, staff, and volunteers harmless.

·         Physical/social distancing measures may be put in place including markings or barriers where appropriate, social distancing reminder signage, and frequent announcements from the stage.

·         Attendees not respectful toward festival staff, volunteers, vendors, and other attendees may be asked to leave the festival. The Newberry Tree Lighting needs attendees to do their part by adhering to COVID-19 policies so that we can continue to operate responsibly and safely.
